The papers and Internet are full of tributes to Elmore Leonard, who passed away yesterday. Megan Abbott interviewed Leonard a few years ago for the Los Angeles Times Magazine, and you can read it here.
WRITING: L.A. Times has plenty of tributes to Leonard - at least three today, probably more. The official obit is here, and there is also an article about his love of the TV series "Justified" which was inspired by his story "Fire in the Hole."
ANGLOPHILE FILE: The BBC is reporting that the Admiralty Arch is going to become a hotel. The Arch, which was built in 1912 as a tribute to Queen Victoria, has been used for government offices for most of its 100 year life until 2011 when the government put it up for lease due to austerity measures. The developers have plans for a "five star 100-room luxury hotel."
WESTERN/WRITING: Ron Scheer over at Buddies in the Saddle wrote a fine post on his writing process and deciding on who your audience is here.
PET OF THE WEEK: Bisbee, Arizona, is one of my favorite towns, and this week's pet, Miss Chimmie, comes from the Bisbee Animal Shelter. Their post on Facebook says:
"Little Miss Chimmie is still in foster care seeking a home! She might be 1 yr old and has been recently spayed. Good with dogs, cranky with other cats, affectionate, but also relaxed and independent pretty girl. 520-678-5783 call or text!"
That's all for today!
