My father was also a medic in the Pacific in WWII. He was a Navy man who hit the beach with the Marines. I know he got a Purple Heart but am unaware of what other decorations he may have gotten.
My father was massed, with the rest of the members of his Air Force base, on the Austrian border with Hungary, awaiting decisions from above whether there'd be an invasion in support of the Hungarian Revolution. Happily for him, and perhaps for all of us in the largest sense, no such invasion, and a train ride back to France...
...for a post related to pulp fiction, some posts are categorized according to the genre. So look under "pulp fiction," but also look under "pulp fiction - westerns" or "pulp fiction - detective," for example. Topics under "pulp covers" also have abbreviated historical information as well.

The Navy medics do a great job patching up wounded Marines and more than one has been awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.

My grandfather was a medic in France in WWII and later in Korea. I blogged about him today as well.
Forgive the nitpick, but the decoration is the Medal of Honor. The addition of "Congressional" is incorrect. A common error.
